Stay At Home Moms

Web Writing For Stay at Home Moms

If you're a stay at home mom and enjoy writing, you can develop a great Web writing career, as long as you think creatively. Think about your writing from the point of view of the people who will buy it -- what can you do to make their lives easier?

Let's look at four ways you can make money writing at home.

1. Writing Articles: Save Your Clients Time

Writing Web articles is at great way to make money writing at home. However, many Web writers will never make the money they could and should be making, because they don't approach their writing from their buyers' point of view.

What do your buyers want? They all want to create traffic to their Web sites. Your content must deliver that traffic. Your buyers are also busy, so doing research on article topics, plus creating titles and keywords, and finally briefing a writer, takes a huge chunk of time out of their day.
Since it takes time, many people put it off. What if you were to create entire Web content packages, doing all the topic and keyword research for buyers? If you do this, you'll be flooded with offers of Web writing work, because you're thinking from the point of view of buyers.

2. Blogging for Local Companies

Here's a secret I've been sharing with my students for years: think LOCAL. The Web is huge and complex, so when you're starting your writing business, it's much easier to work with local clients. They trust you because you're a local, and because the Web intimidates many business owners and managers.

This is especially important for stay at home moms. You can get all the blogging clients you can handle if you'll pick up the phone and talk to local business people. Spend an afternoon making calls, and I'll guarantee you that you'll be booked solid for the next three months.

3. Business Writing: You're a Virtual Assistant

Business people are busy, and because of the economic downturn, they're five times busier than they were last year. Again, get creative, and approach your writing from the point of view of business people. How could you reframe your writing services into becoming a virtual assistant?

4. Writing Ebooks from What You Know

Ebooks are gold mines. People get instant information which they can put to work at once. Knowing this, how can you, as a work at home mom, benefit?

You can benefit by writing ebooks teaching others how to do what you do. Many ebooks are short, at around 20 pages. They give tightly targeted information, and people pay for it.

There you have four ways you can make money writing as a stay at home mom. Think creatively, from the point of view of your buyers, and you'll be snowed under with offers of writing work.
