This article is specifically targeting the person who is brand new to Internet marketing or running a home based business. The reason I am writing this is so you don't make the biggest mistake that new people make. And it's not what you think. It has nothing to do with marketing at all, but it is the single biggest killer of home businesses that there is. I'm talking about the "get rich quick" mentality. You know what I'm talking about. Almost every new person gets into this business thinking they're going to get rich overnight. Well, get that thinking out of your mind. It won't happen.
But why does the new person think this way? For that matter, why does anybody think this way. Well, to answer that question, one has to look at the bigger problem...and it goes way beyond running a home based business and wanting to get rich quick.
We live in a society of instant gratification. We have fast food burgers, ATM machines and I can go on and on. Nobody wants to wait for anything anymore. So why should it be any different for making money on the Internet? We expect things to happen overnight. The problem is, at least when it comes to making money online, it's not like getting a fast food burger or going to an ATM to make a withdrawal. Earning a living online is a process that takes time. Businesses in the brick and mortar world can go a year or more before turning a profit...that's if they don't go out of business first.
However, a person going into business online doesn't realize this or doesn't want to accept it. So they start their business and think that within 30 days the money is just going to start pouring in. When it doesn't, they get discouraged and eventually give up. This is why 95% of the people who start a home based business can't succeed. They don't give themselves the chance to succeed.
If you're going to be successful with your home based business, you need to first get a dose of reality...and that reality is simple...you will need to spend months building your business. It took me four months until I was making about $1,500 a month. Today I earn about $10,000 a month, but it didn't happen overnight.
